Church history
Pa Josiah Akindayomi (1909-1981) began A Saved Christian Church of God within Nigeria in 1952. Akindayomi was raised around tribal religion in the state of Ondo, Nigeria. His lookup for the Developer led him to become baptized per Church Missionary Society within 1927. Somewhat disgruntled by using this class action, within 1931 he joined the Cherubim & Seraphim Church¹. As much as 1947, he began to believe that church was departing from either a faith. Akindayomi left a Cherubim & Seraphim church around 1952 to begin the home church fellowship sustaining nine members. Akindayomi led a growing church until his demise around 1981, when Enoch Adejare Adeboye assumed a leadership. Adeboye joined a Saved Christian Church around 1973 and was ordained a pastor around 1975. Occasionally of his earliest involvement was around translating Akindayomi's sermons from either Yoruba into English. Adeboye's appointment was confirmed per reading of the sealed dictum by Pa Akindayomi fallowing his burial.

Church name
Pa Akindayomi known as his home fellowship a Glory of God Fellowship. He felt he received trueness church title across the miraculous "vision of words that appeared to be written on a blackboard. The words were The Redeemed Christian Church of God. Amazingly, Pa Akindayomi who could not read or write, was supernaturally able to write these words down."
